About the Head Master Trainer

Heather “Red” Litz ~ A native of St. Louis, Red has a long history working with and helping animals
in many different ways. With years in the boarding, pet sitting, and veterinary
fields prior to graduating with honors from The Tom Rose School as a Certified Master Dog Trainer, she has
experience in every aspect of animal care. She has been Head Master Trainer at TK9 since it opened in 2007, the owner since 2010, and is the program designer, she is also founder of The Educated Orphans Project which is responsible for the rehabilitation and adoption of over 100 dogs in the last few years. Training qualifications include
puppy selection & imprinting, basic thru competition obedience,
protection/guard, agility & trick training, hunting/retrieving, whispering
(problem solving), behavior modification/desensitization, service/therapy/guide,
tracking/search & rescue, narcotics/explosive detection, scent
discrimination, article indication, etc. Having owned and rescued countless
pets over the years, a love and compassion for bully breeds helped develop a
unique specialty in “tough love” and “lost cause” training cases. She has saved countless canine lives by dedicating herself to using her gift of being able to get through to even the toughest and most discouraging cases. She has testified for the defense in multiple "BSL" court cases, and rehabilitated many dogs deemed "unsafe" and on their last chance. She has trained and placed working police service canines across the country, including working side by side with such elite departments as the NYC OCCB and S.W.A.T. She is dedicated to a greater cause and continues to donate trained service canines to humans and departments in need. Red gets results using cutting edge
techniques specifically designed and personally customized to get a happy,
healthy, well trained canine while having a little fun.
About the Staff
Sophia "The Predicament" Kalfayan ~ Apprentice Trainer, Boarding Cottage Assistant, Canine Companion ~
Tyler Galvez ~ Boarding Cottage Assistant, Canine Companion
All of our Boarding Cottage Assistants and Canine Companions are current clients as well. Some were once volunteers in trade for discounted services. We have an absolute zero tolerance policy for neglect, disrespect, or careless performance. Though we have never needed to enforce it, we will not hesitate if necessary. Safety is of the utmost priority at Tuscaloosa K9 Camp, and therefore we simply can not tolerate even the slightest indiscretion, and we won't. At the Camp, we not only care for dogs of all kinds, but also train for every aspect and field. We care for every single one as if they were our own. That being said, obviously our staff needs to be first rate professionals, and they are. We are incredibly choosy and we admit it. Our standards are high, as we believe they should be.
We would welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and deliver you the best service in the industry.
